Transfer News: Liverpool deal delayed, Arsenal see off Barcelona, Chelsea Newcastle switch

Transfer News: Liverpool deal delayed, Arsenal see off Barcelona, Chelsea Newcastle switch

Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho is reportedly still mulling over a move to Stoke on a season-long loan.
Express Sport understands the 26-year-old has been made available by the Reds for a spell away from Anfield.
Mark Hughes has offered Sakho a fresh start at the Britannia Stadium following his difficulties off the pitch, including his UEFA ban and an Achilles injury.
According to Goal, the Potters boss is confident a deal can be agreed before the transfer window shuts.
The France international centre-half is currently weighing up his options, although an approach from West Brom on a permanent basis has been rejected.

Arsenal are set to announce the signing of Lucas Perez from Deportivo La Coruna - and they have reportedly beaten Barcelona in the process.
According to Spanish football expert Graham Hunter, the La Liga giants were keen on Lucas as a back-up at the Nou Camp.
But the 27-year-old has now had a medical at Arsenal ahead of his £17million move.
Speaking to NewsTalk.com’s OffTheBall podcast, Hunter said: “Barcelona, in their search for this mythical fourth striker, have decided to loan out Munir and they’re going to make sure the Paco Alcacer deal goes ahead.
“What I’ve found as supplementary information is they hadn’t settled on Paco Alcacer from Valencia until they exhausted the chances of buying Lucas Perez from Deportivo La Coruna.
“And the word from Football Club Barcelona last night was they weren’t getting Lucas Perez because he was en route to Arsenal, that the terms were done and that it was going to happen.”

Newcastle are reportedly in talks with Chelsea over a loan switch for Christian Atsu.
The winger is deemed surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge with the 24-year-old down the pecking order under Antonio Conte.
And ESPN claim discussions between the two clubs are at an advanced stage, with Atsu expected to secure a loan deal with a view to make it permanent should Newcastle earn promotion.
Rafa Benitez is still looking to bolster his squad to ensure the Magpies make an immediate return to the Premier League.
Following his arrival at Chelsea in 2013 on a five-year contract, Atsu has failed to make an impact and already been sent out on loan four times with his Blues career now set to end.

Arsenal target provides massive boost by rejecting everton for European football

Arsenal target provides massive boost by rejecting everton for European football

Arsenal fans will be boosted this evening by news that one of the club’s alleged targets has turned down a move to Everton in search of a club hosting European football this season.

Get French Football News reported that Rachid Ghezzal has turned down a move to the Toffees, stating that he would not be taking the club’s offer in its current state.
One would imagine that, with the transfer window closing in just a few days, Arsenal will make a last-ditch attempt to sign the Lyon winger.
The Gunners identified Ghezzal as an alternative to Leicester’s Riyad Mahrez earlier this month, but had apparently decided to wait until January to make a move for the 24-year-old.
However, the disaster that has been Arsenal in the transfer market this summer may force Arsene Wenger to make a bid sooner than anticipated.

Nevertheless, it could be a difficult transfer to negotiate, considering the bad blood between Lyon and Arsenal over the proposed transfer of Alexandre Lacazette.
The French club issued a public statement condemning Arsenal’s bid and said that the player was irreplaceable, so any effort to sign Ghezzal is likely to include an inflated transfer fee.
With the club’s title chances rapidly fading just two games into the season, this cannot be the reason why a deal is not reached.

"Eduardo has been given an amazing opportunity to leave for a big club like Chelsea.

The chance to make history by winning Brazil's long-awaited first football gold medal will override desire for revenge insists Brazil coach Rogerio Micale ahead of Saturday's final.
The expectations of the host nation are placed on star forward Neymar delivering gold having missed that infamous clash in Belo Horizonte through injury.
But with no player who took to the field two years ago set to start on Saturday, Micale insists his group of young stars can only look to the future rather than be burdened by the sins of senior teams gone by.
"That was the World Cup team. This is the Olympic team. Neymar never played that match," said Micale on Thursday.
"The final has nothing to do with that match. It is a different time, different game, different players."
On the other hand, German coach Horst Hrubesch will take charge for the final time at the Maracana after guiding the world champions back to the Games for the first time in 28 years by reaching the semi-finals of last year's under-21 European championships.
